The previous requirement for the child to choose a single citizenship upon reaching the age of 21 is no longer applicable, as more information is available regarding dual children citizenship.
As of January 1, 2021, amendments to the Republic of Lithuania Law on Citizenship came into effect, granting the right to dual (multiple) citizenship to all minors who acquired citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania by birth. According to the new provisions of the Citizenship Law, all kids up to the age of 18, who were born in Lithuania, now have the right to have double citizenship. This means they can have both Lithuanian citizenship and citizenship of another country at the same time, regardless of when they acquired citizenship of the other country – whether at birth or later – as long as they are under the age of 18.
